The Data We Collect
As you might expect, we collect and store your phone's location, both so we can share it with your family and so we can analyze it to determine if you're driving. When we think you might be driving, we're also collecting data from your phone's other sensors, like the accelerometer. Together with your location, this data helps us determine what happened during your trip, including what kind of vehicle you were using, whether you were driving, and what you were doing with your phone.
We also collect some personally identifiable data from you when you sign up, such as your name, phone number, and email address.
What We Do With Your Data
Your driving data is used to score your driving and share your location with authorized family members, and then only when it's okay with you. We use aggregated data from all our users to refine and enhance our algorithms.
These algorithms are used in both TrueMotion Family and our other product offerings, which include products for auto insurers. While we may use the data we collect to develop and test technology we develop for our insurance partners, we don't share your personal data with them without your permission. We also don't know who your insurer is, so we couldn't share your data with them even if we wanted to (and we don't!).
In the future, if we think it may benefit you (think special perks or offers), we may ask your permission to share your personal data with third party partners. We will get your permission before we share any of your data.
Some of your personal data is by necessity shared with service providers we use. For example, we send our text messaging service your phone number so we can notify you when someone has invited you to a group.
Finally, we have to comply with lawful court orders and other legal requirements, which may require us to share your data.
