Like any app that uses your location, TrueMotion Family can affect your battery life, but we're really careful about when and how we use your location, particularly your phone's GPS feature, and we're continually optimizing for better and better battery performance.
Although battery performance can vary by device and is also affected by the other apps you're running, in general, TrueMotion Family uses a negligible amount of battery when you're not driving, and slightly more while you're taking a trip. Most people won't notice a huge battery difference after installing TrueMotion Family, but if you have a particularly long commute or an older phone, you may want to plug in while driving.
Additionally, TrueMotion Family will help to preserve your battery when your phone is in low power mode by not recording trips.*
*On iOS, your phone will ask if you want to enter low power mode when your battery is at less than 20% capacity. On Android, your phone's manufacturer sets the low power threshold, but it's generally between 15% and 25%.
